PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America) the organization representing the country’s leading innovative biopharmaceutical research companies have launched a revised Code on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals.
You can access the full January 2022 code here.
This code should be considered in line with specific guidance on virtual meetings here. issued by the IFPMA (the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations), EFPIA (European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations), and PhRMA.
We are always welcoming of updates to the code which result in the creation and planning of meetings being made simpler and within ethical guidelines recognized by the industry. We hope that as we move into 2022 attempts are made to further guide our clients and organizations, like Intempio, on a long-term plan for ethical digital interactions.
The 2022 code update contained a few interesting highlights which we believe endorses the case for interactions with healthcare professionals to continue to move to virtual formats.
Updated guidance covers:
- Purpose of company-sponsored speaker programs.
- Meals and venues used for speaker programs
- Invitation of speakers and participants to repeat speaker programs
- Attendance of partners, spouses, or other non-healthcare professionals at company-sponsored meetings
As a code-aware company, Intempio stands behind the industry code of practices and is committed to advising our clients whenever we believe there is a risk of breaching the code.
